Formed in 1985, Semantics was a No Wave punkfunk power trio with Ned Rothenberg on reeds, Samm Bennett on drums and percussion, and Elliott Sharp on guitars, basses, and electronics. The band recorded two studio albums: the eponymous first record on Rift and Bone of Contention on SST before going dormant.
